What does THIS button do?
I bought a new snare. It's a Pearl Firecracker. It's cheap, and I like it. I bought remo heads for it too but I haven't had a chance to really change them or tune the thing right yet. Anyway, I just wanted to tell all you guys that. Maybe you can give me some opinions on it, if anyone owns it or whatever. Or if you just want to tell me I'm retarded for buying it, that's cool too. :D

oh tighten that baby up and it will scream for ya!
mmmm single ply head?
congrats on the buy, ur not a retard!

They're really cool for the price! Did you get wood or steel? And 10" or 12"?

Second snares can really add alot to your drumming

I love my Firecracker (Poplar-12x5). The day I bought it, I was torn between buying it or buying Pearl Piccolo (steel-13x3, and actually the better sounding of the 2), and said the hell with it, they are cheap money, and bought 'em both. Neither of these are my primary snare (That duty is held down by a Tama Artwood Cordia Custom 13x6 Soprano). But again the Firecracker totally lives up to its name. It can really split skullz wide open. And for the price, everyone should own one.

same here but i went with the steel picollo, cause it can be used as a main snare, but the fire cracker is a awesome snare!

my 2nd snare is a remo 10x5 trilok gurtu sig.

I've recorded with the pearl 13x3 picollo & they rock, certainly on the whole pearl snares seem to suit higher tensions

I can't say I'm a pearl fan although they've made some class drums, especially at the higher end of the ladder

having said all that I've never tried a fiecracker

I got the 12" wood version. I played the demo model at the store they had it tuned really high and I liked the way it sounded, so I got it. I'm using it as a primary right now cuz I really like the tone better than the stock PDP one I have. Plus I need new heads and snares for my PDP... anyway, I like how loud it is. I play in a "hardcore" band and it really helps that it cuts through especially un-miked. I haven't had a chance to use it recording yet, so I don't really know how it will sound there. If I had more money I probably would have gotten a pork pie snare or they had a vented snare I forget what the maker of it was but I liked that a lot. I'm really going for the tone/sound of the drummer from Unearth. I don't know if you guys have heard of him or heard him before but his snare is real bad ass sounding. Maybe if anyone knows what he plays or w/e you could hook me up with some info ;)

orange county do some mean looking vented stuff

oh for the cash

for a little more cash, the chad smith signature snare by pearl is quite the treat!
i dont own one, but i shall someday!
