Im in the market for a new drumset. I already own lots of hardware/cymbals, 2 snares, and 2 kick pedals so Im basically looking to buy just shells.
Ive decided to buy pearl exports (since my primary instrument is guitar, i think exports will meet my needs without emptying my wallet). My question is, where can I buy the drums individually? www.musiciansfriend.com has some of the sizes but not really a large selection.
Right now i just want 22x16 kick drum, 13x11 tom and a 16x16 floor tom in (CHARCOAL METALLIC) but i can't find the bass drum anywhere in this color. Any ideas?
also is it possible to "float" a 16 inch floor tom like they do the 14" toms on the fusion kits? just curious

No brainer...

Massmusic.net

50% off list...all component drums no problem.

Yes it is possible to suspend a 16" tom with a heavy duty suspension mount of some sort. The ISS mounts on the Exports wouldn't cut it. It also helps to have something like a 14x16 tom (which is made in the Export series) instead of a full 16x16 to cut down on the weight. A real heavy duty and stable cymbal or tom stand is also needed. Its all in the way you balance the tom over the legs.

thanks for the link man, definantly better prices than everywhere else i looked. I take it that you have done buisiness with this company and not had any problems?

Yep. The only "problem" with ordering Pearl component drums from ANY retailer is that they come directly from Pearl (it would be impossible to stock every size in every color) and consequently it can take up to a month to receive them. I have never waited LONGER than a month. I think the price is worth it if you don't need them "right now". Good luck!

yeah im just looking for a good deal

chances are, i won't buy the entire kit at once anyways. I just play drums for fun on the side but im tired of the krap kit ive been using for years. The lugs are so cheap its almost impossible to get consistent tuning.
