I bought an iogear pcmcia firewire card for my firebox, but apparently the NEC chipset it uses is known to cause problems with the firebox. I'm getting playback issues (songs play choppy), but it records fine. The choppiness makes overdubs impossible though, since it doesn't play back in proper rhythm

Moral of story: I need a pcmcia card with either a TI or VIA chipset. Any cards you guys can suggest? Anyone else using fireboxes have issues? If not, and you're using a pcmcia card for firewire, what model are you using?

Thanks

ISTR issues with the VIA chipset, too, but maybe I'm thinking of their PCI chipset....

I'm currently using a billionton firewire card. It uses the TI chipset, and it works great. It is an older one, buy hey, I got it off of ebay for 15 bucks.

I'm using a Compaq Cardbus Firewire card w/ the Firepod that has an NEC chipset and it works fine. The guy at the shop said it was TI, but I got it home and saw that it was NEC, but it worked with the Firepod just fine, so I didn't bother with taking it back.
