Hi guys another question.

I have read what I could about using PC but I am still a bit confused. Can you transfer tracks into your computer and then mix them down from there? Or do you have to mix everything to tracks 7/8 make this a .wav then transfer?
I'd like to be able to work on each track individually on my PC if possible.
Also what programs are most PC users using to edit with? I have Soundforge 6 and Sonar 2.0 XL. Wouls either of these be a good program for my MR8?

kdgospel told me this: "I use my MR8 in conjunction with my pc which makes CF card size not an issue."

kdgospel if you are looking at this tell me how the PC helps with space on a card don't you still have to record the whole song onto the card or can you record tracks and then transfer them then record more tracks and transfer?

I know. A lot to answer and some may seem like really stupid questions but I want to make sure I have all my ducks in a row before I jump in on a project and can't do it right.

Thanks.

You can transfer tracks 1 at a time if necessary, to be mixed on the PC.

Sometimes I will transfer/copy all tracks to the PC, then mixdown 1-6 to 7/8 (on the MR8), delete unused- by doing so creating extra CF card storage capacity.

EDIT** Repeat as necessary...

tracks

i record three or four tracks, move to computer, then mix that down to one wav file and import that back to the mr8 on channel one, leaving all the tracks untouched on the couputer, and continue, only limitted by our computers memory....

Thanks

That is exactly what I was hoping that I could do.

Thank you for the information.

What Program on PC?

I have Soundforge 6 and Sonar 2.0 XL. Wouldeither of these be a good program for my MR8?

What does the majority of MR8 users use as PC software?

pc

lots of people around here use n track, but hey, use what you have, those are supposed to be great programs

Soundforge is an editor, isn't it?

So is Sonar a multitracker?

SoundForge

Yes Soundforge is an editor. I use to use it after I mixed down a song on my Tascam 788. I sold the 788 because it was too much trouble I wanted to be able to mix down from a PC based program.

I have yet to mess with Sonar 2. I'm not sure what it will do for me. I think that it will be complicated. YOu can do multitrack but I don't know that it is the best for what I have in mind for the MR8 that is why I wanted to know what most of the Mr8 users out there were using.

Thanks for the replies and information.
