I recently bought an Alesis USB audio interface mixer with Cubase LE 5 software. Unknowingly, I uploaded this program and my PC warned me that my audio ASIO was not capable of recording audio inputs. I understand that my "sound card" was not the right one for this software. I need to know what sound card to install to be able to use the DAW program. And also, what other computer hardware or devices I need to get started. My current machine is ; windows vista, pentium 4 dual core processor 2.3 ghtz, 8gb RAM, 2gb harddrive, and a sound card that doesn't record.

Yeah man, The Alesis 'is' replacing your internal sound card. You need to make sure you have the drivers (from website) for your Vista machine. Download and install it. Then, you need to make it the default audio device in Windows. Then you need to select it within Cubase, as the ASIO device. Then setup the VST Connections, and select them for each track.

yes, I hooked the USB from the mixer to the PC and it loaded, only problem is the sound card isn't capable of recording audio from an analog input.

i did the default driver change, but it advised me that the sound card isn't capable of recording analog audio with this program.

Doesn't sound right Slawdog. I get the same message when i select my internal sound card.

In Cubase, select
Devices>Device Set up>VST Audio and select the ASIO driver for your Alesis.

Then select
Devices>VST Connections and map out the inputs and outputs for your interface.

Listen to Chili, he is correct.

There is a specific order, to what you need to do. A must, is reading the quick startup guide. Then, reading the manual, and coming back here, when you hit a wall. Trust me, you will.

One of us will be here to get you through, when you hit that wall. :)
