I think the vocals suits the style. The mix is sounding clearer. Her voice shouldnt be IN YOUR FACE...I dont think it will suit the style...cause its a really delicate, fragile kind of vocal, IMO.

I agree, buddy, but I can see Robus point, too. It is a bit low, but I mostly did that because she's self-conscious and did the vocal for me as a favor. But this style does tend to bury the vocal. I just wasn't sure if I took it too far and the ear is straining to hear it.

Sounds good to me, I might bring down the guitar a bit but that's me. Really pretty song, I never heard this one before.

thanks easlern. my best friend said to turn down the guitars a hair, too. i'm tried it and it sounded too vacant to me and lost edge. the original song has a piano filling up the middle/body of the song so without that i want the guitars to fill in more space. pavement's first two albums are great and worth checking out.

I'd bring her up more still. I understand the tendency to bury the vocal a bit when the singer lacks confidence--been there and done that. But it never works. I'd get the vocal out there, come what may. Besides, she can sing. You might need to coach her to get her to sing out more. She has the right voice for this song. Listening to the original, the singer has a bit of a plaintive and tentative style too, but it works.

Thanks.
I'm trying to figure out how to get her to loosen up. She gets really tense as soon as she knows we're recording. I try to explain this is just fun...music should be fun. But she has this fear of errors, being on the spot, or the neighbors hearing her through the walls... that cause restraint.

Just keep doing it. I'm far from confident in my own voice, but like to think there is some improvement with each song.
