buy a used PRS. I got one a few years back for $1300. It's a beautiful, great-sounding & well-made guitar, and versatile as well. Like others have said, play a few before you buy (OK, the selection's more limited for used ones).

Well cool. First time i have seen a guitar being made. Technology is crazy how they can replicate exactly guitars to within 1/10th of a human hair accuracy.
