PatchBays?

Hello all,

I have a TRS-8, soon to have a M308 mixer. Typical outboard gear, compressor, a couple effects units, phantom power box, direct box etc. I'm shopping for my first patchbay, although terms like..

Full Normal, Half Normal, Non-Normal, balanced, unbalanced confuse me.

What do they mean and what kind of patchbay do I need?
