I have a small computer recording set-up at home and am tired of unplugging and plugging in my instruments into my mbox (only 2 inputs).
I'm looking for a cheap way to plug in everything into one unit and then choose what I want to record through one stereo output. I've looked at patchbays but don't see how to turn each channel off and on and route them individually to only 2 outputs. I've never used a patchbay before and am pretty much clueless. I have been looking at mixers such as the Behringer ub1202 but would rather just have something that doesn't process the signals at all that I can just flip which instrument input I want to access and go. Also this way I can be sure to use the pre-amps in the mbox as opposed to the cheaper ones in the Behringer.
Is there a unit out there that I should be looking at? I'm totally new to this idea and am pretty much in the dark.
Thanks
