Passive or Active?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OK, what's the diff between an active D.I. Box than a passive one.

Is one better than the other?
What do each have that would be benaficial for me on stage?

I have always miced my amp so I'm sorta in the dark on this one.

Thanks in advance!!

I assume since you have posted this in the 'keyboard and sound module' section of this board that you are a keyboard player, and as such already have suitable preamps in all of your electronic 'boards to lift them up to line level.

You could certainly get away with a passive DI box, if not a $15 line transformer from Radio Shack. I used them with great success for years with both keyboards and drum machines, and their purpose is to convert your unbalanced HiZ output to a signal that can travel down the wire to the mix position without losing frequency content. I plugged the line transformers straight into the snake. The only problem with any DI arrangement is that you're at the mercy of the sound guy as far as how much of yourself you can hear back thru the monitors...
