IT ROCKS!!!

I was a little skeptical especially when I read that there were horns...on a kiss song?? Gene Simmons is rolling over in his grave and the guy aint even dead yet!!! This is GREAT!!! I just think the drums need a little more punch but thats it...great...fantastic...well done guys!!!

Wow!..................................................................................................................................................................................................................Wow!

When Mike asked me to play on a Kiss song I didn't know what that might be like. I'm not really familiar with Kiss although I knew it was stadium rock but I figured if I could play 'death metal' with Sab I could do Kiss. :D But when mike sent me the tune the first thing I thought of was fusion and Zappa. I actually like Mike's version better than the Kiss one. I think it rocks harder and I really liked the harmonies he put on it. I kinda wish I had tried putting my sax thru a tube amp cranked up to see what that might have sounded like. I might try that.

I think it will kinda sound like euhm... a sine. :D
Unless you got one of 'em fancy pickups in your neck. (of your sax, that is) Or you could first record it and than put it thru... Anyway, if you want to hear the amp above your sax, you really gotta cranck it up so be carefull with the placement of yer saxmic.

thanks for the listen guys:

Badgas and SLuiCe- Thanks alot guys.

King Elvis- LOL... ...Yea, I dont know how he would feel about that. Regarding the drums... I have an 8 track recorder, and you know how bouncing gets... sometimes its tuff to anticipate everything.

Theron and Chessrock- Thanks alot for listening guys.

About Lt. Bob- You guys all know how cool this collaboration thing that everyone is getting into is. I just wanna say thanks to Lt. Bob for being one of the key people in getting this all happening. He's a great player with a unique talent that is diverse, .....and he's willing to put time into someonelses project because he enjoys doing it. I had heard alot of the stuff that he had done before with Sami, and Crawdad so i knew how good he was, but I never realized how much work he had commited to these projects until i heard mine, and all of the options that he had given me. He actually took the time to allow himself to be creative, and thats whats going to make this collaboration thing work. "You Da Man"

Thanks again for listening, Mike
:D

This certainly is weird. I'm too drunk to review this good enough, so I'll get back to you later :) . I'll check it out later...

That is really wild! Great recording, guitars and everything sounds solid, (except maybe the drums/snare  , but I'm just not a fan of that type of sound.) And the horns and sax solo, just really great. What a wild idea.

Great job, both of you.

Macle

I like this better than Kiss! Man, this thing rocks! Great job on the collab...

Lt. Bob's horns kick some serious ass on this one!

Hey Folks,

DTB-Thanks for the listen my 788 wieldin' brutha........

CrankyOne-.......LOL, I look forward to what you have to say.......thanks

Macle-Thanks for the listen man. When I originally came up with the notion of covering this, I wanted to use a really slutty sounding chic on vocals. I was going to change some of the lyrics to fit "her" (blasphomy). I thought that some industrial'ish drum sounds would compliment that idea. ......well Sam Ash was out of slutty chics and my wife wouldnt let me buy one anyway so..... .....i decided to do the vocs myself:D . The drums grew on me, so i stuck with them.

Boydrj-Thanks bro, ......but, nothing is better than Kiss:D You're right though, Lt. Bob's solo smokes.

Great combo,

This must be crowned, King Of Colabs!!

Lt. Bob I salute you, and Guernica though your not in the service, I salute you too.

Elaborate on how you did the colaboration, so others may be enlightened. Wav, MP3, what?

You guys are the new Fab Two!!

I've never really listened to KISS..other than what I've seen on TV or heard on the radio. ...so I have no comparsion that way.

on the other side...this is neat recording, and has some fine aspects to it.
I got to wondering if I was listening to the version before the horns came in, after a bit.... ahh...there they are.

some nice horn stacking there, for sure.
Am I the only one hearing the solo sax a tad out of tune on the[really] high stuff....or is it me? Seems that always appears to be the inherant nature of the [sax] beast...at least it seems I hear that a lot on saxes. I'ts definately wailing, however..some accomplished soloing. Nice colab, dudes...

I liked the very beginning with the guy pleading.....is that on the original?

Yeah!

great collaboration!

The first thing I must say is great vocals G! You have a really cool voice.. Then the sax came in WOW! It's like a sick guitar solo on a saxophone! :D

I could find things to complain about , but it's hardly worth mentioning because of the coolness of this project..

damn fine vocals! great soloing Lt.!

mighty fine collaboration indeed..

Mixmkr there is one spot where I'm a little bit sharp on a high C I believe. But sax is not like guitar ( I also play guitar) where as long as you've tuned it, if you press the right fret the note will be there. On sax every single note is different and you have to lip everyone of them differently as you play. So you have to make it be in tune. That's why you hear so many sax players play out of tune all the time....sometimes excruciatingly so. And every sax is different. I've played horns that had notes as much as 1/4 step out of tune and of course there's no way to play that note. I am a piano tuner so I play pretty much in tune ........ but you're right........it can be difficult to get them all spot on.

GT Thanks for the listen. Mike had the idea and it just kinda came together. We used crawdad's method of cross-platform collaboration. Mike sent me a cd with the rhythm track on it and put a click on it a couple of seconds before the music started. I recorded that to my recorder (a Fostex HD-1624 ). Once I had done my tracks I recorded them one at a time to cd with the rhythm track panned all the way left and the sax line all the way right. There were 8 sax lines altogether so I had to do it 8 times...once for each sax part. Then I mailed him the cd. When he got it he recorded the first track to his recorder, used the click to sync it up and deleted the rhythm track leaving him with one sax track on a channel of his machine and in sync. He repeated this for every sax line. Then it was just a matter of mixing it. You could do the same thing with Mp3s but even though some people don't hear a big difference between Mp3 and cda I do so whenever somebody's willing, I prefer to use Mp3s for getting the bugs out and then for the final mix.....mail cds.

Thanks Sami, that means a lot to both of us. One of the people we talked about while doing this was you. You're the heavy sound demon so it's nice to get a positive reaction from you.

Bold... Quirky... Fresh! Nice bass guitar work. Smooth vocal harmony change-ups in the chorus. And the only thing more wicked than the sax licks is the maniacal creativity it took to throw this unique version together in the first place! Great job, you guys! I had to post a 5 star review for you on your NWR page...

What wondrous balls!:D
