Panning Question

I was just wondering...when you pan two copies of a track hard left and hard right, you're basically accomplishing the same thing as if the track was a single track in the center?

You could throw a short delay on one track to give it some dimension.

Or a little delay on one side and a little creative EQ on the other.

Yes, the copy is an identical wav, so you dont get that multitrack effect, like for example, when you record 2 separate guitar tracks.

Thanks for the replies everyone! I tried putting a delay in one of the panned tracks and it sounded pretty good.

I read that you can get a more full vocal sound by having a track in the center then two panned left and right tracks with a lower volume. Couldn't you accomplish the same thing by doubling the centered track?

Panning em gives it a nice effect, if that's what youre going for.
