Panning Music

So if I understand correctly, you have a mix in Sonar that plays through both speakers. But when you export it and reopen in Goldwave it only plays from one speaker?

Have you tried playing the file in Windows Media Player or WinAmp? If not, do so. That should tell you whether the problem is in the Export from Sonar, or in Goldwave.

My guess is you have the panning knob set wrong in Goldwave, or something like that. First test the mix in WMP and let us know if you get playback from both speakers.

BTW, your original description of the "panning disappears" sent everyone off on the wrong path. Panning disappearing would imply that you get playback in both speakers, but everything sounds centered.

Yeah sorry about the earlier post.

Not it is panned at both speakers like I want it when I playback via. Cakewalk 2002. When I export to either MP3 or WAVE it only plays the song back on the right hand speaker.

If you set all pans to left, does the export turn out dead silent?

You haven't made any pan-automation on the VMains?

Yes if I set all pans to the left there is NO SOUND at all...

Vmains? Whats that... I am very new to this stuff... I only wanted to get a simple demo out but panning it seemed like I could make it even more professional. I cant understand the problem though.

This is when you read the manual... VMains is the main fader in the Console View.

Avance A97... I know its not the best but its been doing the job up till this point...

If you still want help, you might want to try answering the questions we asked.

What you want to do is a relatively straightforward and everyday task in Cakewalk prodcuts. You are obviously doing something wrong. However, in order to track it down, we need your help.

You can also try to do the mixdown with HS2002 first, before you export. Edit > Select > All, and then Bounce to Track. Make sure to select that you want to mix to a new, stereo track.

When the new track is created, it should be a stereo track (i.e., with two waveforms - one for the left side and one for the right). Let us know if that works OK.

If it does, then solo the new track and try exporting again.
