Hello!! merry cristmas by the way!

i need some help...
Im recording directly to my computer using my Pandora PX3 connecting it from the line out to my line in...
then i record it with Cubase VST 5.0...
The problem is that my distorted guitar sound sound fuzzy och way to digital... and there is no dept...
basicly the sound isnt to good...
Im recording Heavy metal...
I have an SM58beta availible that i connect directly to my comp with the microphone input(+20 db boost... i think) any way that i could use that?
Maybe to get an speaker 10" and record it that way
i am very short on equipment, thats what i have...

and also if someone knows any really good patch i could use for recording on the pandora would also be apriciated...
and all eq help also welcome....
OK... ALL help is welcome!!!
Thanks/
Jonatan
PS: if you want to hear it tell me ill post a small file :DS

I've got the PX3 and IMHO, it isn't great for recording. It is a great little box for practicing and jamming along with cheezy drums, but the sounds suffer a bit in tone dept.

If you must use the PX3 for metal, try recording one track with the Valve setting and one track with either Scoop or that 80's metal setting. That should give you a fuller and heavier tone.

Also, if your tone sounds "digital," make sure you are not overdriving your input on your soundcard. Try reducing the output of the PX3 when running it direct.

ok ill try that when im recording next time i have one recording now... and acctually have have been able, in the mix, to get some depth and it doesnt sound to bad....

I may be able to get a POD is that better? and if it is do you know any good patch that i can use for that?
and mix ideas? any?

Thanks/

The POD is much better than the Pandora (I have both). The POD is a guitar amp simulator (with effects) the Pandora is an effects unit only - it does not simulate amps (although it does have a "cab" simulation).

You can't really compare the two. The Pandora is more for personal practise (and maybe a very portable effects unit) whereas the POD is designed for direct recording.

Re: Specific patches on the POD - there are several decent presets, but the whole point of the POD is to dial in the "amp" sound you want (not to find an effects patch).

The POD is waaaay better for decent direct recording tones than the PX3.

However, IMHO, the SansAmp (GT2, Classic, or PSA-1) is even better than the POD. The POD is pretty good for chording, but seems to fall a bit short in the singing sustain and the upper frets department. Because the SansAmp is an emulator and not a digital modeler, it does a better job of acting like a real amp when recording direct.

You may also want to consider the J-Station, the Yamaha modeler, the Boss modeler, and the Korg AX1000G floorboard modeler. Also, note that the AX1000G does a much better job of reacting with your playing than the POD or the PX3.
