pan positions

Am I missing something, or does Pro Audio 8 have only five pan positions?

A pan value of 0 - 15 places the instrument (or voice) hard left. It doesn't matter whether you use 0, 1, 2, . . . 13, 14, or 15; the position is exactly the same. The same is true for the other four positions:

16 - 47: left-center
48 - 78: center
79 - 110: right-center
111 - 127: right

Five positions. What if I want to put something in between an instrument at hard left and an instrument at center-left?

Sorry, I'd like to give you a definitive answer, but it has been such a long time since I've used Cake 8. :(

when i was using cakewalk 8 i did not experience this problem, or at least i didn't notice that i was experiencing it.

does this behavior happen in both midi and audio or just audio?

If you could post some proof of this- bitmaps or jpegs of the waveform- that would get their attention, if anything.

?

Hmmm. This is my first project, and there are only three audio tracks: two for voice and one for guitar. I'm not sure that this happens with audio, but I think so. I'll have to check.
I am sure it happens with MIDI. There are ten tracks of MIDI, and with five positions somebody has to sit out or get stepped on.
jpegs and bitmaps? I wish I knew. I'm 48 years old. Nuff said? I know what a jpeg is, but not a bitmap. Sorry to disappoint.
Anyway, if no one else has encountered this problem, maybe it's unique to my situation. Perhaps I need to change some property or option associated with my particular set-up (Pro Audio 8 / SoundBlaster Live).
