Pair of NT5s or AT4040, SPB1 combo for overheads

Hi guys, pretty much what it says in the title...going into the studio (university studio that is) tonight at 7pm GMT and as we were in last night, their mic selection isn't the best. For overheads they've got a pair of rode NT5s, I'm going to use my own SM57 on the snare, and my mates got a D12 he'l put on bass. For the overheads, would you stick with the NT5s or use a combination of my AT4040 and a SPB1?

Also, we're using a protools digi 002 set up...are the per amps on that better than the DMP3 I have? I've heard that it's not all it's cracked up to be, but I may be making that up....

cheers

I'd put the AT4040 over the snare and the NT5 equidistant from the snare from the other side of the kit. I'd hazard to guess you'd get a better image of the kit that way.
