I don't understand the whole thing about the "reps" and giving/getting them.
Can you trade them in for something good? Like beer or steak? Are they like "green stamps" where you save them up until you can fill a bunch of books to trade for merchandise?
I don't even know if their a good thing or a bad thing.
Will they help my music sound more presentable?

I'm not a big fan of these systems either. I just know some posters seem to set store by it, so I try to remember to spread some rep around occasionally.
