Recording is no problem, it works well. Playing it backs works until I get to the very end of what I've done and then the whole thing locks up. Nothing works, not even Ctrl, Alt, Delete! I have to turn the computer off, so I loose everything that I just did. This does not happen with any of my other software, so I assume it's something wrong in PA9. I've tried to reinstall and I still get the same problem.

Can anyone help me out?

What soundcard are you using? Are all drivers updated?

Sounds strange...

It's an Ensonic card. I've been using it everything the same way for over a year and it just started doing this the last month or so.

Anything new installed, or did it just happen?

Nothing new installed. It just started to happen. That computer is not even hooked up to the internet. All I use it for is recording and doing artwork with Photoshop. It's got a very big and mostly empty hard drive and almost a gig of ram.

I do have a second sound card (Delta) that I tried to use a few times, but I couldn't get it to work at all. It would lock up as soon as I hit the record button when I tried to use the delta card.

I don't know, but to me it sounds like you have a hardware conflict. Check if all hardware "are working properly". Are there any IRQ conflicts?

Which OS do you use?

Can you also let us know if there is any difference in behaviour between a file containing just MIDI data, a file with just audio data and a file with both?

I don't want to tell ya how to suck eggs, but can ya look at this, (as per Moskus)

1. Right mouse click on My Computer, choose PROPERTIES
2. Get into DEVICE MANAGER - this is different per OS used
3. Is anything showing up in here with either a big red X or a yellow exclamation mark?

If so - what is the device? Soundcard, video card etc?

Go the that manufacturer's website, download the latest driver and follow their instructions for it's installation.

Repeat the midi, audio and midi+audio test and let us know the results.

Ciao,

Q.

I don't do any midi stuff. I use fruity loops to make drum and bass tracks, import them as wav files and then I record guitars with a J-Station.

I'm using Win Me and there are no Xs or !s.

I used it a little today and it worked fine. Maybe it just didn't like the song I was trying to record.

Damn! A musical "quality" bug in CWPA9 - I am truly stuffed then!

It is weird that it only happens at the end of a song. Is it always the same song, always at the same place - or does it appear somewhat random?

Always at the very end. I'm listening to the playback and just as the line gets to the very end, where it should stop, everything locks up.

Sometimes it's just the imported wav file with no guitar added and sometimes, it's nothing but guitar. I'll record something to see how the guitar sounds and at the end of the play back... Boom, lock up.

Have you updated Pro Audio from 9.0 to 9.03? I remember I had that problem once. Chech what happens if you put some MIDI-data after the last loop.

Maybe the Delta screwed things up? Old registry-entries?

No I haven't updated PA9. It's on a computer that's not hooked up to the internet, so updates are a little more hassle.

It could be the delta, Every time I've tried to record with it, it locks up as soon as I hit the record button. So, I just went back to using the ensonic card.
