I'm using Cakewalk Pro Audio 9.

I've got some audio authored at 48K sampling rate, 24 bits per sample. I want to put it on a CD - so I need to bring it down to 44.1K and 16 bits.

What's the best way to do this? Right now, I'm mixing down to a 48K/24 wav file and then using another program (N-Track(!)) to convert it. I'm fine with the quality of the conversion, but a 3 1/2 minute song takes about 7 minutes to convert.

Is there a easier or quicker way?
Thanks,

I don't recall if you can covert bit depth in PA9 (you can in Sonar); however, neither program will covert sample rate. Therefore you are stuck for a third party solution regardless.

Wavelab will do this, and also gives you the benefit of the Apogee dithering program for the reduction from 24 bits to 16.

I believe Sound Forge will do this as well.

Unfortunately, you can't get there from here with PA9 (or Sonar for that matter) - at least when changes to sample rates are involved.
