Hello. Can you help me with a question re: pa systems? This is a long-winded question, sorry...

In my band's rehearsal room we have a pa system and one of the speakers died. I have managed to locate two new speakers. The PA is 4 ohm and has two jack outputs. The two new speakers are 8 ohm and have two parallel jack inputs.

The one remaining old speaker (which would make a handy monitor for the drummer) has speakon inputs (I have the necessary cables to link it to wherever).

I'm a bit backward on pa system terms "parallel" and "ohms" and so on. Firstly, is it ok to use the two 8 ohm speakers with the 4 ohm pa? and is there any way I can safely link up the third speaker? Do parallel inputs on the back of speakers mean you can daisy-chain another speaker from the spare jack input? ie. could I plug the two new speakers into the two outputs on the pa and then tack on the third speaker as a kind of "speaker thru" from one of the new speakers?

Depending on how the '4 ohm' rating reads it likely means minimum combined load for that single amp channel. The two jacks would typically be wired in parallel, as would the second jack on the speaker. So if you ran from the amp with a cable to each speaker, or daisy chained amp, speaker, speaker, you'd have four ohms at the amp. Adding the third one would put it below min, which you might get away with if you didn't push it hard.
Besides it not matching very well on volume or tone (new feedback points to boot.)

Perfect, thanks. I think I'll forget about the third speaker.
