I use n-track to record and mix and I also use ozone. When I mix down from 24 bit 44.1 to 16 bit 44.1 I use n-track dithering option. I noticed that ozone now has dithering in its latest version. I can upgrade for $49. Is Ozone II worth it?

Thanks,
Larrye

YES

Dithering makes all the difference. Plus in the multi-band compressor it shows how much gain reduction is going on which is my favorite new feature.

Ditto.

Dithering is an absolute must in digital recroding. You pretty much throw out the benefits of 24 bit recording if you don't dither it at the end.

Take care,
Chris

Try "dithering" a mix to 16 bit. Then, do a "Save As" to 16 bit.

All of you, try it. I doubt that most people will hear much difference unless your stuff is acoustic stuff in nature, or orchestral, or jazzy...For most rock stuff, unless you have a long reverb trail, or some cymbals ringing out at the end of a song, you will probably not be able to tell the difference between a dithered and non dithered mix. Even WITH those things ring outs and the such, depending upon how you did your "clean up" on your audio, I would venture to say that the noise floor of your preamps would provide enough "dither" for you.

YES the upgrade is worth it. Dithering is just a small part of what's new between 1.0 and 2.0. This is a rocking upgrade which is easily worth the money. Heck, I'd have paid the upgrade fee just for the collection of presets, let alone the bit meter, ability to turn off bands to save CPU, directx automation, etc. etc.
