I recently replaced my old cymbals with Paiste Signatures. I have my Paistes in a cymbal bag, and i still use my old ones ofr practice... Am i being overprotective? SHould i practice with my Paistes, or with my old cymbals?

I had a set of Paiste that had a bad finish. If you choked a cymbal the fingerprint would literally etch itself.
If you want to keep your cymbals new, handle them with care but it's alright to play them :)

You do whatever you like, my man. No need to ask permission to not play those Paistes. Sod what anyone else thinks.

That's a bit like buying a new couch and leaving the plastic on ...

I don't think there's anything wrong with that at all. I have a set for practice, a set for live (thicker) and a set for studio. Paiste's are expensive and anything you can do to prolong their life is worth it's weight in gold! Wipe each one clean before you put it away, though.

i cover all of my cymbols with pillows while I am playing them. It keeps the sticks from hitting the cymbal!

just kidding

The most important part in taking care of the Cymbals comes with setting the proper angle when playing with them, and knowing the proper way to hit them for the specific effect we are trying to project..Unless you are a Rocker with endorsement for replacement.
