I am going to be building a DAW system with a friend and had a couple of questions....

1) My friend wants to spend 600 on two 19 inch lcd screens, while i think we should spend 300 on two 17 inch lcd screens, would we really need the 19 inch screens or would the 17 inchers be enough?

2) we were thinkin of getting a 80gb 10,000 rpm hard drive, would this be worth it or would a 7,200 rpm suffice?

BTW these are in euros, not your american dollaridoos

I like the 19"'s because I can fit more on my screen. Also the higher rpm hd will be a tad faster but it depends on your setup.

You'll only fit more on the 19" if it has greater resolution.

If the number of pixels is the same, the 19" image will be bigger but you won't get any more real estate than what a 17" will give you

That depends on the number of tracks you're planning on running. I can easily get close to 24 audio tracks on my 7200 rpm 160GB drive w/o the drive utilization even showing a little line in Cubase's performance monitor.

Well I use 1280 x 1024 on my daw 19"'s and 1024 x 768 on my "internet" computer with a 17".

2 x 19" CRT's here...couldn't live with out 'em

Spring for some CRTs and then upgrade to LCDs later! 19" CRTs, like punkin said, ROCK!

thanks guys! might go for either a decent set of 17" lcd's or some 19 inch crts

enough space

You might wanna get a bigger HD as well, 80 GB is small in the 24 bit realm. This is even more crucial if you will be producing beats and need HD space for samples. Ive got over 200 GB of samples alone on my DAW!
