overheads...how to?

im brand new to drum recording and i need to know how to place the overheads.i read tubedudes thread and i will try that method but i wonder if there is a standard way of doing this. what is X/Y?
any other methods?
i am using a pair of mxl 603's overhead and a 57 for snare and a beta 52 for kick

REad the massive mic thread in the mic forum.... you will learn more than you ever intended, and you'll be there awhile... you cant miss it its about 10 pages long or more....
