What does an "overhead mic" refer to. I don't know the exact placement to put them in.

Overheads are typically used when micing a drum kit. They can be used also when recording an acoustic instrumental group, such as bluegrass music.
The "overhead" is usually elevated on a boom mic stand. I prefer condenser mics and typically use the Octava MK012 for drums.
