Over compressed?

I think I should of left the compressor out of this. Didn't sound to bad in the car, but when i got home it sounded way over compressed on my pc speakers and my daughter's cd player. I get carried away with effects sometimes, so I know that's an issue from the get-go. The song is "After the feeling's gone" and it's at www.nowhereradio.com/artists/alternative/david/ the stream sux big time but you already know that.

I don't think it's overcompressed, it sounds more like it's a bit heavy on the lows tho (guits and bass).

IMO anyway,
Keijo

Doesn't sound compressed to me, either...it sounds BIG, and fat, but it's way heavy on the bass. The rhythm guitar is dominating, and partially covering up what sounds like a very good vocal track.

Nunna my business, but I think a heavy-handed acoustic rhythm guitar would be great somewhere in this mix.

The hifi stream sounds really good, btw.

I listened lofi and the vocal is definitly getting smoothered. The drums sound muddy and almost in another room. The rhythm git on the left side sounded over[powering. I can't get too technical or I'd be speaking without lips but, I'd say check your final mix before you master and make sure you're pleased at that point. Something is getting lost.
The song and vocal are worth working through this. Cool tune.

Good luck and sorry I couldn't be more productive.

Theron.

Thank's guy's, i agree with everything your saying. my ear's were pretty spent the last couple day's and i'm hearing what your talking about now. jst about cut one of my fingers off this morning so guess i can work on my mixing for a while now. i'll re-post this track in a day or so, many thanks for the listen and most of all for your help...david

Nice tune, David. Well worth some future mixing. Careful with them fingers:) I am a real sissy when it comes to that, dont like to cut anything.

I dont know much about compression, cant comment. The Guitar was fuzzy, too loud. The Lo end in general seemed fuzzy. The vocals are great, really liked em...Dave

hey thanks for listening dave, yeah it needs a whole lot of work...but that's why i'm here in good company:) ..thanks
