output 'leaks' into input

hi there, i'm just a new user, don't know much about anything really.

even though i'm only using headphones and recording a guitar straight into the soundcard input just for demos, any sound coming out (metronome, other tracks, even sounds from other softwares) gets recorded with it, like it is "leaking" or "bleeing" into the input channell, some would say.

setup is Cubase XS3/Creative SB Audigy/WinXP Pro.

any ideas?

You may have chosen the "record what I hear" option that windows has.

Make sure you are just recording the input channel

Check the manual, under "device settings" or "asio" configuration. There is a decent step by step guide.

If this is the case you can change it double clicking the speaker icon in the lower right of your screen then choose options then properties then recording and uncheck the sources you don't want recorded e.g. "record what I hear".
