output click/metronome

hey all,
i recently started a new project in cubase with my band, the song we are recording right now has time changes, the only thing i have done right now in cubase sx3 is set up the tempo track, so that the click track/metronome matches our time changes when we go to record everything.

one of our guitarists wants me to send him the projects metronome as an audio file, like he wants to have an mp3 file of the click track so he can play with it and change around the solo.

i have no idea how to output the click, anyone?

Load the LM7 drum synth VSTi, then make a midi track with the ouput of the midi track going to the LM7, and fill up the midi track with 1/4 notes of your preferred sound for use as a "click".... finally export the output as a wave or mp3 and give it to your buddy.

It'll take you less than 5 minutes. Just make a midi track of 1/4 notes for one bar and paste that across the project.

Nonetheless, making music is a lot of work. Not matter what angle you look at it from, what has to be done has to be done. Cutting corners won't garner satisfactory results.

However, there might be another way, but I'm not sure if it's possible. When you go to mixdown, see if you can mixdown from the Audition output. That's where the metronome goes to.

It took more energy for you to complain about how much work it was than it would to actually do it. If that's too much work for you, then you may as well forget recording yourself, and getting a result that anyone except your mom will want to listen to.

wow, chill out guys. i was just saying i'd rather not do that because i'd rather spend that time working on something else in recording

You can send the metronome to midi. Go to the metronome setup page and set it up to send a midi note instead of that annoying sound it makes. Set up a midi track and insert the drum synth on it. Set that instrument to 'listen' for that midi note.

If you are really lazy, just hook your interface output to it's input and record the click as it comes out of cubase.
