Outgrowing Cakewalk Express - want to upgrade

Hi:
I loved learning with Cakewalk Express 8, but now I would like to upgrade to a more versatile version.
I don't want to go right to the top version though.
I just want to be able record at least 16 audio tracks (plus the usually midi tracks) and also have 2 or 3 more midi and audio effects.
Any ideas?

Hey...

Cakewalk express 8 is precisely the program I 'm struggling to learn now !

Did you find it difficult to master ?
I'm finding the help section to be a bit confusing..how about you ?

Did you get cakewalk after learning sequencing on an outboard sequencer ?

I did, and maybe that's why the program feels so foreign...

I'd be curious to know what you plan on upgrading to..

Hey Tom,

Cakewalk HomeStudio 2004 would probably be down your alley. The 'top of the line' would be Sonar. Have a look on Cakewalks site to see the differences betwen the programs. The main differences would be effects and a few nicieties.

Check out this page for the differences. If you have any questions let us know.

Just realised that that page is comparing it to Sonar 2.2, the current version is 3, but it gives you an idea.
