outboard XLR

is there some kind of rack mount thing that will allow me to move my boards xlr mic ins (8 of 'em) into the rack? nothing powered or anything, just a row of 8 XLRs ins which I could patch into my board. I suppose I could build one, but maybe there's something already made.

well look at that. that's just what i was thinking. i didn't think 'patchbay', because you don't really patch from one point to another, like a regular patchbay, just extending out the xls inputs. but that's it. cool, thanks.

Depending on your situation you might want to consider getting a snake over the patchbay. Just depends how far away from your mixer you want the jacks.
