WHAT is the correct way to connect my outboard gear with my motumkIII AND INTO SONAR 5
Thanks Trackrat, thatseems simple enough even I may be able to do it!Track Rat said:Well, an analog output from the MOTU to an input of your outboard device, then run the output of that device to an analog input of the MOTU. Then with the MOTU Cue Mix, select the inputs/outputs you've connected up so you can hear them. Then in Sonar (or whatever software you're using) route the audio you want to send to the MOTU and make a new track to record that effected audio back to.
Cuemix is offTrack Rat said:Guess number 1; The buffer settings on the MOTU are too aggressive (or Sonar for that matter).
Guess number 2; Maybe the DMA setting on the hard drive is unchecked.
Guess number 3; Is the cuemix still on? I'd turn it off when not utilizing it.
Track Rat said:OK. I just came up from the studio and I was easily able to do what you want. I took an old project and reassigned all the tracks to analog 1-2 out as you would to mix in the box. I took the lead vocal, assigned it to analog 3-4 out. I patched from analog 3-4 out to an Alesis Midiverb II and patched its outputs to analog 3-4 input. Obviously you can the create a new track and re-record that incoming signal but to monitor in real time, I went into the cuemix and set analog 3-4 to playback to analog 1-2. Works like a charm.
