Out Of Resources

Just downloaded N-Track to try out and am getting an "Out of Resources" error after applying one effect only (onto one track). My PC specs are as follows:
AMD Athlon Xp 2800
512 MB Ram
Audiophile 2496
Win XP

The error recommends to increase the max. number of buffer underruns.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I'm sure this has been discussed before, but without the availability of the Search function, I haven't had any luck finding it. Thanks!

Depending on the audio drivers you are using determines the method of adjusting the buffers.
WDM and MME, Go to Preferences > Buffer Settings.
ASIO, You will need to use the control panel supplied with the 2496.
