Out Of My Life

Sounds interesting. The mixed vocals are somewhat tripped out sounding at points because they seem to overlap. I'm really not sure what else to say.

The vocals harmonies sound pretty good. Some timing issues that sound as though they might be intentional????? A couple of instances maybe overdone. At 1:48 or so, this song is begging for a nice interlude of nylon string guitar solo over a bed of sweet strings. Ooh, I can hear it now.

Thanks, Monkeymanx, Yeah, the harmonies are a bit loose. This will be redone with only harmony on the last verse. It's a duet and I wish I had some female to do the second verse and the last in harmony. Thanks for listening.:)

Thanks guitar zero, I'm with you about the solo at 1:48. Will do ASAP.

The harmonies are out of whack as stated above. Thanks for the listen.:)

Good job with the chick voice. Hey, you gotta work with what you have.

Bump. This song has been remixed and a string arrangement has been added.

Just thought I'd mention it.

Before the remix, it was at #3 in acoustic vocals. That and $3.00 gets me coffee at Starbucks.:)

I liked the sound of the acoustic guitar. The vocals sound good too.

Some timing issues with the guitar and harmony vocals. Minor though.

The mix leans toward the right. The acoustic guitar is stronger on the right than anything else on the left. So there's a little issue with the balance.

The bass might get just a little heavy in spots.

It seems I can hear a fader ride in spots. At the end of the intro and the middle break I can hear the instruments get softer right as the vocal is about to come in.

Mostly nits. Nice job.

Thanks for the input. Yeah I hear those things, too. I'm just getting tired of mixing this.:)

I agree that's a great guitar sound. The string section was a real treat, nice sound on that. Vocals were well up to snuff for me.

This song has been remixed with some of the harmonies taken out. Is the string arrangement in the beginning too hot? My wife said she thinks it jumps out a little too much. Any thoughts would be appreciated.:)

Nice vocals...good guitar sound. As stated above, it does seem to be mixed more heavily to the tight....that's my only nit. The sounds are good, and it's a cool tune.

Nice one....

Very good. The guitars are good. The strings are a little hot. You could bring them down a bit. Really nothing bad to say. I've always liked the sound of your recordings. Kepp up the good work, man.

Thanks, Dogman. I'll try to center those lead vocals.

I think I know what is happening. I record in stereo and if the levels aren't right at the capture, you can't pan things away very well.

I'm going to try to clone and reverse phase a track if I can find the right freakin' button.

Thanks for the listen.:D

i don't think the strings are too hot, although you may have backed them out on the 2nd mix, and i didn't hear the 1st one.

your solo vocal parts and the duet are mixed perfectly (both music and vox).

the strings bridge is a beautiful segue in an altogether beautiful song. this is really really good man.

the duet finale is perfectly executed.

i can't say enough how much i like your voice! lots of soul, zero pretentiousness. excellent.

only 2 nits:

i think the female vox are a touch too loud on her first 3 lines.

the ending is too abrupt. i could've used one last instrumental fadeout.

really, great job. :)

Thanks, Drossfile, both good suggestions. I'm going to get her to retrack this and see if I can get a better take. We didn't spend too much time on it.

The fadeout can be longer and the intro could use a little bit more of a strings foreshadow.

Thanks for your input. :D

Thanks, Marcadiablo,

I brought the strings down a little. Actually the violins down a bit and the cello up slightly.

Still a bit more work to do on the vocal levels, but it's getting there.

I wish some country duet would cover this one.:)

I've gotta hand it to you, Xeries....you just write beautiful songs! Nice duet at the end. Lady's got a nice voice too. Well done!

Cheers
Joe

Thanks much, Joey. You write good songs, too. I'm looking forward to hearing another one of your rockers. ;)
