Is that a glitch or an over enthusiastic snare brush at the same time as an edit at 20sec?
I have to say 1st up that i REALLY like the male only mix - it doesn't tell the story in the same way but it tells a different one very, very well.
You'll need to solo the two vocals & pan them hard & automate the faders to get them level (& probably some EQing too as that can cause apparent loudness) before doing a remix - there's a little de essing needed too.
In the string section the violins are a little too loud & bright - they could use a little more timber in their timbre.
You're right about the pitch of the fem vox - they suit perfectly by being imperfect.
It's a terrific song that begs for a real string section or at least the best patches available.
There aren't any phrasing issues to my ears - I LIKE!
