pretty self explanatory....
signal from a computer is sent OUT of the computer.
The opposite of an input.

Like, for example, you want to use speakers.

I guess what I meant was are they through and through? :o :o :o :o :o :o :( :(

the answer is yes. the question is not being asked clearly though.

Man, I have no damn clue what's going on here, even after reading.

If I read it correctly, this is what he means:

I have an interface. It is PCI/USB/Firewire/whatever

It has inputs, but it also has outputs. Why?
-- so you can feed other pieces of outboard gear

Do the inputs pass audio through to the outputs? Like Input 1 to output 1, input 2 to output 2, etc.
-- yes

If this is not what you mean, please clarify. Hell, why don't you clarify it for us anyway, Sleepy...

Well, i think...this applies to some interfaces. i know that the MOTU 828mkII's I/O are not affliated together. they are all individual inputs and outputs. any input can be assigned to any output.

That sounds closer to universally accurate.

So yes, intputs can be routed to the outputs for monitoring, or sending to effects or what have you. Usually thorugh the recording software, or the interface driver control console.

Yes any input can go to any output, but by default I believe most devices send the input signal to the corresponding output. Every interface I ever had was like this (but of course they could all be rerouted as needed)

If you never messed with the inputs of your 828, I believe they would follow the above logic - the other MOTU devices I had worked that way.
