Tell me why I'm up at 2am working on this thing
I popped an MRL tape on my Otari. Levels are all fine, freshly adjusted from the shop still, but it's got a pretty obvious WOW problem.
I notice that the left tension arm moves back and forth every time a WOW happens. (uusally once every revolution of the tape.)
I looked at the hubs from the side, and they APPEAR to be off-balance on the surface. Not sure if that's the real problem, though.
Pinch roller is FINE, uh, tape path is fine and clean. It's a new MRL tape, so no issues there. Any ideas for the source of the problem?
How do you balance the reel tables on this model (if that's the problem...)
thanks!
