I'm only about 20 seconds in, but I can confidently say this is sweet.

You ever get that, where you just know?

I'm off to enjoy this, and maybe drink away my sorrows? IDK..we'll see. :p

This is a great sound too. Very rich and full. Good performance and a nice mix.

See, I was expecting an even older style here, but "classic" country may refer to other decades...would this be kind of a '70's sound?

I think of classic as being maybe 1940's through 1960's, but I don't know why necessarily.

The ending was very nice. Thanks for sharing.

Ha. Yeah I meant 70's country. At least I was in a decade that still had country music in it. :)

Good shit man I could jam this while I'm having a few beers. Nice job!

I was thinking about it- if the lyrics were just a tiny bit more opaque, and didn't overtly mention drinking, and you compressed the living shit out of it - it would fit nicely into either of Wilco's last two albums.

This has 70's Nashville Corporation written all over it. Could've been in the movie too!
Really nice capture of your voice mate - how'd you do that? I mean apart from the good voice.
The effect reminds me of Honey - though your vocals are far from mawkish, it's that sad, sad, slide/steel I think.

Well, I wish that was my voice. Its a guy I have been recording. He's really good. I think we've done 20 songs of his and they are all great tunes. On this batch of tunes I've been using an SM-7 through a UA 6176. A slight eq and comp with a plate verb eqed to taste. Nothing fancy. He's just a good singer with a great voice. But he does let me do everything else. Very fun!!

Nice tune dude!

As corny as some people like to say it is...I really like the old-style country music...it's pure, simple, full of emotion and heart-n-soul...and you usually get to hear the vocals and all the insturments nice and clear-n-clean.

You guys nailed this one. :drunk:

Who's playing the steel?

Me, if a tele in my lap with a slide and a volume pedal counts?!?! Which I know of course does not. Talking to few steel Players to track this for me, but they are few and far between in Cincinnati. :)

Naaa...you caught the vibe, it sounds very steel-like. Lap steels are just that, a guitar in your lap with a slide.

I have a pedal-steel....but I just hack around on it, certainly not a "player"...but for basic stuff and ear candy. I can usually find a few decent licks that I can pull off failry well (after about 3 hours of practice). :)

If any of you boys want to record that little two second bit in my willie nelson cover for me, feel free.
It's just a little nod to charlie pride I guess, but i just played it on guitar with a tea spoon and it sounds as such.

Awesome!!!
Ah, yes. A steel contraption of death. I always do a little sacrafice to the Indian god of intonation when I sit at a pedal or lap steel. Not for the faint of heart. !

Yup, real nice work, no nitpicks, sounds great, really enjoyed the listen.
