Spending more than $50 to mod a VJ is like flushing your money down the crapper. I have a VJ and love the thing the way it is ( except for the stock tubes). I have tried the TT and it blows the VJ away. Instead of spening $250 to mod the VJ, spend the dough on the TT.

I have another rediculous MOD project for the VJ. Lets mod it into Traynor YCV40-WR.

Modding the VJ is pointless except for tubes and a few resistor tweeks.
If you are that gung-ho why not just build an amp from scratch?

Very good point. I did a lot of stuff to mine including swapping the OPT. I'm using a Hammond 125ESE at $30. I bet I have $75 worth of mods to a $100 amp. I was almost worth it but I'm not sure I would do it all again. I have a stock head and I'm thinking about leaving that stock.

Time and money has little to do with modding and building.
I haven't used a TT, but I can understand it costing $550 because it has more parts and a metal cage, but I would argue that it is in all likeliness still a typical musical product of China when push comes to shove.

Actually I thought the amp was built in Korea. Also, not all Chinese stuff is shit, remember my ac30cc? It still gets used on sessions over amps costing twice as much that are built in the US.

China, Korea....splitting hairs. I think this was discussed before. Almost any country can build quality if they want to, but there are not many US or European companies that outsource to either or those countries for the reputable quality.

And if you notice in the next sentence, I said build quality, not sound quality. I stand by that.
