I use ProTools 6.4 LE for recording, mixing, editing, and "mastering," and I'm looking for a program to burn RedBook compliant discs. I know WaveLab does this, but it's a little pricey. Does WaveLab Essential do this as well?

I know Nero is very popular... Is it ISO RedBook compliant?

Any suggestions on more affordable options for burning RedBook CD's would be greatly appreciated. Maybe I should look on eBay for an older/used version of WaveLab? Any downside to doing that?

By the way, I work on a pc.

Sony CD Architect is less expensive and quite good.

Try looking for Samplitude Master also - I *think* it's relatively cheap also. Although it's (v.8) a new version, and I think it's held up currently.

Cool. Thanks for suggestions MM. I see the Sony CD Architect is the same price as Wavelab Essential... Any idea as to which of these two options would be better?

I don't have WL Essential, and haven't used CDArch since 4.0, so I hate to say I'm not that well versed in either at this point...

I would *think* that a "full-blown" version of CDArch might get you further than a "watered down" version of WaveLab, but that's strictly a guess.

I have CD arch 5.0 and it is a major upgrade from 4.0g. Personally, I think it is probably the best CD burning program in existance, and Sony doesn't know what they have on their hands.

I agree about CD Arch. I have Samplitude and CDA and love them both, but I prefer to use CDA for speed. When I recently upgraded burners, I stopped being able to use CDA (4.0) with my new burner, so I gues eventually I'll need to buy it again.

Great! Thanks for the suggestions and info everyone. I really appreciate it. Sounds like I can't go wrong with CD Architect.

Sony knows exactly what they have with CD Architecht. Thats why they brought it back. SOnic Foundry had actually dropped CD architect support. Then Sony brought it back:)

Sounds like a no-brainer with this kind of positive feedback. Gonna order a copy today!
