okay... so i just set up my computer and i am about to install pro tools (i have an 002). now the sales guy at guitar center gave me a card of a friend who would "optimize" my computer for pro tools. do i need to have him do this, or is this something that i can do myself? i am new to macs, and new to pro tools, so im not too sure what i would go about doing. what i assume i need to do is uninstall all the junk that came on the computer (it will be only used to recording). i also need to know how to dedicate my processors... one for pro tools one for the os. i am running a G5 with dual 1.8s. i just bought my digi 002 so i assume it came with PTLE 6.7. if someone could point me in the right direction that would be cool.

I dont really know what he means by optimizing the computer for it. If its just uninstalling the programmes you wont be using then thats pretty much something you can do yourself. If you uninstall them all and then repair permissions. (Applications-Utilities-Disk Utitlity-repair permissions).

Regarding the processors, Just wondering really why theres any need in dedicating one processor each to the OS and PT? I would think its better off both running together and working together so if one programme needs a bit more power then the other can adjust for it.

But apart from that, i think that should be fine. Set up is sounding very nice indeed. I envy you :)

Good luck!
