yello, everyone; hope someone's been through this already...
I setup my Korg Triton to go in the optical input of the Marian Marc soundcard I have installed on my PC. When it comes to recording everything is fine, signal is received and Acid Pro records the performance, except...

when I played it back, the track was about 1/2 tone down... I tried recording with Logic Platinum, same thing, whatever I record from the Korg through the optical in of the Marian Marc turns out to be detuned around 1/2 tone down. Bof!

Anyone knows how I could get around this?

Thank you all in advance! :-)

Does the soundcard have another type of input? If so, try recording through it.

It seems impossible that the optical cable has anything to do with it being detuned.

Your keyboard is putting out oa 48K digital signal and your DAW is playing it back at 44.1K. You might have to change the sample rate of your session.

Yes.

.................

thanks lads

yo, I suspected it had something to do with that. Sample rate, correct?

analog input works fine, only the digital optical in gave that problem

I'll sift more tightly through the preferences...

Thanks a million :-)

In Logic from the Arrange page menu click on Audio>Sample Rate>48000.

it just hit me

I've got a bucketload of ready made loops at 44.1K !!
ah ah ah!

A quick look at the parameter guide of the Korg tells me the S/PDIF ports only support 48K

well, I'm gonna have to go the good old fashioned way, then: jacks and analog audio signal. I'm gonna have to find another use for that optical ports.

Thank you all for the info

upconvert

u mean upconvert 44.1K loops to 48K retaining original tempo and pitch?

Yes.

In Logic, open one of the loops into the Arrange page, double click the file then click on Factory>Sample Rate Converter

all right

all right, I'll try that in the morning. That is: in few hours, it's 3.47 here in Ireland
time to hit the hay. Thanks again every1

Or vice-versa. Down-sampling a small amount of material from DAT is probably faster than up-sampling a metric tonne of loops....

not at all...

oh, not a big hassle at all, I will convert the samples I choose as I add them to the 48K project, it's all in the pre-natal stage, including my home recording skills :-) ; it works. Hats off, gentlemen. Should you ever visit Ireland, you have few pints on me.
