1, is a Asus A8N-SLI cool to use with a AMD Opteron 165??...... should i check somthing else out?

And I noticed on the A8N-SLI, It supports Ram speeds, PC2100, PC2700, PC3200

I currently have 2 - 512mb PC2100 DDR chips on my current board...

If I was to buy this new gear plus buying a 1045MB chip at PC3200, Would I still be able to insert my 2 old 512MB PC2100 chips with it?

Or do all the Memory chips on your mother board have to all be running at the same speed?

thanks

You could but the PC3200 strip will automaticaly drop down to the speed of the lowest stick you have (PC2100 in this case).

It's a good idea to keep all your ram the same brand, speed and size

ahh ok so RAM has actualy got faster over the last few years as well as Processors?

So if i was to get 1GB RAM with a 3200 chip it will actualy be like having more Ram than 1GB with a 2100?? ...

Just catching up as my PC is about 5 years old now...

cheers
