I need to record some bass tracks for a song. Since I live in an apartment micing a bass amp is not going to work unless I want everyone calling the cops. Can I use the line-out on a guitar amp going directly into my mixer and then into the computer? Any suggestions would be great.

I've had mixed results with using line outs from amps. They can sound good, but they can just as easily sound awful (really noisy). Plugging the bass directly into the mixer may actually work better.

Try both, see what they sound like. I have also used a Blue Tube for recording bass (bass guitar into Blue Tube into recorder) and that sounds decent. It turns out a bit muddy, so some EQ'ing may be necessary.

Good luck avoiding the fuzz...

So I can plug the bass directly into the mixer and then the mixer into my computer? That will work?
