Ok, so I finally grow the bravery to post an MP3 here...

it's called "Eternal - The Zero Hour"

It's got no singing (trust me, you do not want to hear me sing)

It's all Me and my Drum Machine.

Tell me what you think of the mix, the song itself, etc.

Thanks again, and hopefully I can take the criticism ;)

If you want I'll post what I used to play / record on.

I'm not really into the mega-distorted guitar sound (just a persona preference thing), but the quality of the recording sounded pretty good. The performance was tight and instruments well "placed".

As for the song itself, I'm not sure if it stands alone effectively. Perhaps using it as a basis for a vocal track, or using lead guitars to build a more identifiable melodic theme, would give more of a personality. All the same, it certainly had a distinctive mood or feel to it which I enjoyed.

Good stuff.

What gear (musical and recording) did you use?

I do have some basic lyrics / ideas for what I want to add to it, however i'm really not good at matching up lyrics to music or singing.

As far as the Equipment here's the run down:

Guitars: Fender Tele, Jackson Fusion XL (nice mix huh?)
Bass : Jackson C5A
I used an MT-2 Metal Zone and a GE-7 Eq pedal through a Fender Eighty-Five and a Peavey Bandit 112.
Also a CE-3 Chorus for the clean parts.

I mic'd the guitars into my mixer (Mackie 1202) into the recorder.
The recorder i used was a Tascam 788.

I think the mixing could be done a little better, it feels to me like the drums are too prominent and that harmony part is too up-front for my tastes...

I did the mixing on headphones and crappy home-made speakers from 1971 :D

anyone else?

I value all your opinions more on the mixing/technical aspects, i'd really like to get the hang of the recording process better.

Most of my friends just either tell me "I don't like metal" or "dude that rox" which is not very helpful.

hey did you feel that? it was a bump :D
