Hey everybody, Im new here but this site seems great. Anyway..
What do you think about recording guitars direct in? Ive tried both(miking & direct) but it seems like going direct gives more body, what do you think?

I think miking an acoustic guitar has more body (try mixing both together), and if your talk about an electric guitar, I think miking the amp has more body, but the SansAmp is nice also and so is the Mesa Boogie Vee Twin preamp.

I say do Both and mix it the way that works best for the song.

Nylon string guitars can sound pretty good direct. But steel string acoustics need to be miced IMO. Record in stereo with a couple of decent condensors. Of course, first of all, you must have a good sounding guitar.

Always mic an acoustic guitar unless you are going for the direct sound which is very rare. A good mic and a good acoustic with good tone is awsome.. As far as electric guitars, I have been running mine direct through a amp sim. That is because micing my amp is not a practical solution due to my dwellings and my experience doing it.. To me micing a guit cab is an experiment every time I try, it is never the same.
