we don't need rest!!
anyone familiar with:

Weiss digital EQ ?
Junger digital EQ ?
SPL tube Vitalizer ?
Crane song ? (what's that?)

...and any opinions on Neve compression?

some equipment located at a recommended mastering facility.

thanks...

I'm familiar with the Crane Song stuff but not the other gear you have listed. What model of Crane Song do they use? The HEDD is pretty cool.

EQs used by pro mastering houses -
- GML 8200
- Avalon 2055
- Manley Massive Passive
- Qeiss EQ-1

Comps used by pro mastering houses -
- Manley Vari-Mu
- Junger d01
- Waves L2 Limiter

Others:
- Weiss DS1 de-esser
- Apogee UV22 CD Encoder

I've no experience with these items directly (since Blue Bear Sound is not a mastering place), but they are at the top-end of the high-end gear chain, and as such, considered excellent.

Fletcher at Mercenary recommends CraneSong gear, so it comes highly recommended automatically.

Hope you have some bucks!

Hell...I have no idea.... "Crane Song" could be like "Fruity Loops" to me, and I wouldn't know....

Gee... the typical..low end Mastering console runs between $7000.00 to $300,000.00, would you like an Island with that order sir? Oh thats assuming you have Speakers in the $8000 to $35,000 a piece.....Yikes... Go to the Gateway Mastering equipment list and it should give you an idea. Though Bob Katz system is more reasonable at Digido.com. Alot of the Eq's are personal preference items, what you need to find out is what artist and genre turns your crank and find out what his/her/their Mastering Engineers used. If you can make up your mind on what to purchase, let me spend your money for myself!

Peace,
Dennis

And maybe you can buy a multi-platinum mastering engineer's ears too, while you're shopping.

no interest in buying any of the equipment, Dennis...but thanks for the response. The equipment I listed in the first post is what is used a mastering facility I was turned on to. I just had not heard of some of this equipment before, and was searching for some input from anyone who has. I also am extremely impressed with the past client list, and hopefully my stuff might be considered for the owner to consider. If things work out, and the owner has no objection to a little publicity (it's out of a private house now), I'll post some results.

Would not turn my nose up at anything on your - or blue bear's list - apart from the Manleys, which IMHO are the most overrated, overpriced, overhyped pieces of bad sounding, bad engineered crap available.

I know the Junger stuff is used for limiting in tv-broadcast vehicles in Holland. Serious pro stuff.
