Opeth-ish recordings?

Hello,





Here are some songs we recorded in our garage this summer. It took a little effort though. I recommend listening to the whole song through.

What do you think?

I don't have enough time to listen all the way through. they're both long songs.

But I listened to part of the first one. And the thing I noticed was that there was a general lack of high end. Things just seemed a little on the "dull" or "muffled" side. I think the guitars and the snare in particular give me this feeling.
 
huh, i honestly thought it had too much high end myself (guitars), and not enough meaty punch in the drums. as lifelong metal guy, thats what makes metal for me, the drums. in my opinion,if you don't have a killer drum sound, then nothing else will sound punchy....but what do i know? hahaha i'm just a newbieieieieie great songs tho, i really like the writing style. just my opinion tho!
 
some of the crispy clean riffs remind me of mastadon a bit.... thats a total compliment, by the way. hahah
 
Yeah, actually I agree with you. The thing is we ended drum replacing a bit, basically because the drum sound just wasn't cutting it in the beginning. Another thing is, if we would have done much more punchy metal drums, I guess it would have "killed" the calm "jazzy" parts a bit. Buuut like you said, it's only an opinion!
