If any of you have seen a musical or an opera, you'll know what I'm talking about.
Have any of you recorded those type vocals?? When the singers hit a lot of those notes, there is some tremendous volume going on there. . . . obviously some compression would be in order, but what about gain settings.
Let's just say I'm using a middle of the road Large Diaphragm Condenser to record some vocals like this. Preamp is a Spirit mixer's onboard pre (Ultra Mic) . . . where would you suggest setting gain, etc? I know I will have to experiment, but I'm just looking for a little advice from someone who may have some experience (if, indeed, any of you have had any).
