Opening Fruity Loops in Sonar

Its not working for me????

I can get Sonar to see all the Fruity plugins, but it will not recognize it as a DXi synth. Using Fruity 3.56.

Any thoughts?

I think its because when you ran fxpansion for the first time it didn't see FL as a DXi. You could re-install it and you will see a list of recognised plug-ins on the left plus a dxi synth list in the middle column (all this from my memory, so treat with caution). FL should be there. I think FL has to have the letters DXi appended to it for it to recognise it as a synth (I think). How you get it to do that I don't know, apart from renaming it!
Sorry I can't be of any more help.

earthcub,

Maybe you did this already, but make sure you copy the files "FruityLoops VSTi (Multi).dll" and "FruityLoops VSTi" into your VST plugins directory. Then run the adapter. FruityLoops should then appear as Insert > DXi > VST > FruityLoops.

btw fxpansion has put a demo of version 4.1 of the adapter on their site now.

Getting there...

I did this:
Start > Programs > FruityLoops 3.56 > Advanced > Install plugin version

Pointed this to the directory where the rest of my VST plugins are. For me this is:
C:\VSTPlugins

This installs two files:
1) FruityLoops VSTi (Multi).dll
2) FruityLoops VSTi.dll

Next, I restarted and reset VSTConfig and I just pointed to the C:\VSTPlugins which gathers all plugins underneath and adds them including Fruity.

But... when I add Fruity as a DXi Synth in Sonar add click on the Fruity fruit as per williamconifer's post, I get an error reading:
FruityLoops coulnd't be linked, probably because another instance of it is already running.

Well, I've restarted my box, and started Sonar fresh, and still get this message. I'm baffled by this one...

Any Thoughts? TIA

Ahhh...I got that the first time - a problem with the default tune or something. It was a while ago, but I think(?) this fixed it : add another instance of FruityLoops after you get the error message. Then View > Synth Rack and delete the second (newer) instance. Now try clicking the fruit. Assuming that now works, open a new drumkit (e.g. 808) and close.

earthcub - Let me know if that doesn't work, and I'll have a further check as I believe there is some relevant info elsewhere (prob. digifreq board).

Sorry to hear that didn't work out. Angus is a good guy so hopefully he has an idea. If not, I suggest asking on the FruityLoops tech support forum as there's a few on there who also use Sonar. Another idea which occurs to me is there's a "reset" option I believe on Start > Programs > FruityLoops >. Be careful though as you might lose some settings if you try that.

Hope you get it working,

Steve, I visited their site and can only find v3.3. They say that v4 will be posted as a demo "soon". Unless you know different...?

Brilliant, thanks Steve. Downloaded as we speak:) It should resolve some of the timing issues I was having with FL open in Sonar, there were a few glitches.

BTW, I think I misunderstood an earlier post. What is a Triplet?

How do I get fxpansion to recognise FL? I run the Config in fxpansion 4.1 but it doesn't "see" FL as a VST program. How do I get fxpansion wrapper to recognise it? It sees all my other VST stuff but not FL:(

Hey Paul

Look back in this same thread. I left instructions on how to get FL VST installed and working with VSTConfig to the T. If you still have problems, let me know. It took awhile for me to get this whole thing going but I did pull it off.

Peace

Fxpansion keeps reading the fruityloops vsti.dll and fruityloops vsti (multi).dll as the fruity mute 2 and fruity bass boost plugins.

Is there an obvious mistake I'm making, i "installed plugin version" from the start menu and then ran the demo wrapper on the folder to which i installed the files, but for some reason its telling me they are the two fruityloops vst plugins from before.

Very strange,
Eric

Try deleting the VSTi's and create a brand new directory. Install the VSTi's in it and try again. Don't point to the dir where your FL plugins are... just the one where the VSTi's are and see what the results are. And, are you looking in the right place in Sonar? You should be able to go to Insert > DXi Synth > VST > FruityLoops VSTi.

Hope this helps.

sorry for diggin up the old thread, but I have a problem with FL and Sonar.

I'm able to load Fl as DXI/VST in Sonar, make a loop in FL, put in on playlist, and then back SOnar, and now, how do I play this loop I've just made?

I tried various ways, but can't seem to get it to work, I can't even play the loop within Fl once I go back to Sonar and come back to FL....

Hey A1A2
Wow, you did dig up an old thread... Anyhow, um... yeah, the implementation is a little strange at first. If you're starting dry with no other tracks in Sonar, you need to create one. You can make a dummy track by recording some dead audio. You only need as many bars as your FL song or you can just record a couple bar and loop them. Then... pressing play will trigger FL's song that you've created.

Note: the Time Offset - Quarters in the VSTi window for FL when double clicking on it in the synth rack will dictate the delay before the FL song starts.

Hope this helps.
