I am seeking ways to record from a open reel recorder to a cd burner. I feel there is a way to do this without exorbitant cost. Has anyone here experimented with this recording format. Your input is appreciated. My soundcard is a TurtleBeach Santa Cruz. My cdrw s/w is Nero 5.1.
Thanks

Are you talking about a stereo tape recorder or a multitrack?

With a stereo tape deck it's a piece of cake with almost any sound hardware on a PC or Mac. Just connect the stereo tape outs to the stereo line in of the soundcard, and set the line in as your recording source in your recording software.

If it's a 4- or 8- or 16-track recorder, you'll need a soundcard with 4 or 8 or 16 inputs to doa track-for-track transfer. Or just mix down to stereo as with the two-track.

Once you've recorded a stereo WAV file, it's very simple to make a CD with a CD burner and some burning software. Whatever application you choose will walk you through the steps.

Thanks AlChuck, yes it is a stereo recorder, a TEAC A-4010S, which I have yet to use due to its recent purchase on Ebay. I hope to have it in a few weeks, plenty of time to work out the details before it gets here. Thanks again.
